This game is a recreation of how Alexey Pajitnov’s original Tetris from 1984 looked and sounded like on a 15ИЭ-00-013 terminal that’s hooked up to an Elektronika 60 mainframe computer. There is no emulation going on, instead, I created this version from the ground up to mimick the original which a lot of time and effort went into.
You can play the game in the browser, however, for better performance, and additional features, please download the Windows version.
I took great pains to recreate the original experience, hence some modern comfort features are not present. As such, the entire game is in Russian but you can play without reading anything, still, I explain how everything works on this page.
To start playing, enter a number from 0 to 9 as your starting level and hit ENTER.
The score-keeping in this version awards no points for clearing lines, not even four at once (a shame, I know!). Instead, the score is based on the current level you’re on (higher is better), the amount of tiles a piece drops, and whether you have the next piece preview turned on (less points) or off (more points)
The three lines of text on the upper left of the game screen are number of completed lines, current level, and score. Note that the score counter rolls over when reaching 1000 and a currency symbol (¤) is displayed underneath the score. Thus each ¤ stands for 1000 points.
